Benzina Becomes Merchant of the Year 2018

“I see this award as an acknowledgment of our business success in recent years. I really appreciate it and I want to thank our customers for their trust and confidence. We are a modern brand preferred by drivers, which was also reflected in a customer poll carried out by GfK as part of this competition. For instance, we are working to complete the offer of fuelling cards, to improve customer centre services and to expand our online services within our mobile application,” said Marek Zouvala, Director of the Benzina filling station network that is part of the Unipetrol Group.

Benzina has refurbished most of its filling stations since 2012; it has expanded its services and introduced a new fast food concept, Stop Cafe. It also presented new Efecta fuels with a cleaning effect for the engine. These investments totalling CZK 2.5 billion have strongly contributed to Benzina’s current position as a market leader which is also a modern brand that is most popular with the drivers.

Over the past five years, Benzina has every year increased the number of filling stations, as well as the total fuelling volume. The recent takeover of 60 filling stations from OMV which was completed last year, and the expansion of the franchising concept have also contributed to an increase of its market share from 15% in 2014 to the current 23.2%. This development was also affected by the entire network modernisation and investments in the development of the Stop Cafe concept which is now available in 270 out of 409 filling stations.

The Mastercard Merchant of the Year is a significant award for the best retail merchants in the Czech Republic. The winners in nine specialised categories in the sixteenth annual competition were awarded on the basis of a representative public opinion poll conducted by GfK Czech, s.r.o.

Benzina is part of the Unipetrol group and operates the largest network of filling stations in the Czech Republic. In the 61 years of its existence it underwent a speedy development. It is a traditional and at the same time modern brand of Czech motorists, characteristic by high quality of fuel as well as customer services. In addition to EFECTA fuels with a cleaning effect, Benzina also offers premium fuels VERVA and a wide range of refreshments at the gastronomic concept, STOP CAFE. Benzina also issues its own EASY and BUSINESS fuel cards, in total operating 409 filling stations with a market share of 23.2%.
